Here we’re using ClearView Plus to claw back more detail in distant haze. Local adjustments such as Control Points enable you to target a specific region and tweak a host of properties. This AI-assisted denoising operation certainly gives PhotoLab 4 the ‘wow factor’, though it's only available in the more expensive Elite version, along with other advanced features like DxO's ClearView (dehaze) tool. Luminance noise was also smoothed out without losing key details. After a click on the Denoising Technologies panel’s DeepPRIME button the nasty color noise vanished. When viewed at 100% we could see garish specs of color noise in the unprocessed picture. This exposure enables the app to learn how to smooth out noise without sacrificing detail. To put DeepPRIME to the test we opened a Canon Raw file that had been captured using a high ISO of 800.

I’ve told myself that I need to set down & implement that, as I do want to, I just haven’t done it. Now I have not used the DAM portion of the program so I can’t really address shortfalls there. The optic correction module, at least I think is advanced. I’m purely an amateur photographer, not likely to ever sell a photo, so being able to apply the pre-sets to a group of shots allow me to edit those very quickly & provide results that fit my objectives quite well.
I do use Affinity also, many times coupled with PL4. Pre-processing them with deep prime really helps.Įasy to use, I much prefer the control point methodology for masking to the selection process found in PhotoShop and Affinity, however I understand at least part of that is experience, not discounting that at all. I’ve tested it with Astro photography running deep prime & then exporting to stack in Sequator and the difference is substantial, even though stacking in Sequator is billed as the “method to reduce noise” in those shots. Ability to export multiple file formats simultaneously. Love it, raw processing, deep prime, clear view plus & smart lighting.
